Tail lights are red in color and when they're illuminated, they alert drivers of your next move on the road. Though tail lights are activated when the brake pedal is pressed (brake lights), they're also turned on when the turn signals are activated. Conspicuous for the rear of a vehicle is provided by rear position lamps (also called tail lamps or tail lights). These are required to produce only red light and to be wired such that they are lit whenever the front position lamps are lit, including when the headlamps are on.
