A Lost American Icon Has Been Found. The 1968 Ford Mustang GT Fast Back Featured In Steve Mcqueens Bullitt, Was Found In a Mexico Junk Yard.
Warner Brothers Studios Had Bought And Used 2 Mustangs For The Filming Of Bullitt. The first car was bought by private collectors after The filming wrapped. That left the Other Mustang To Be Taken To the Junk Yard Along With The 1968 Chargers Used in th film. After It went to the junk yard it was forgotten about and essentially lost for the last 50 years. The Mustang which was the films stunt car had seen better days. The Color had been changed a few time and it was missing the drive chain.
Hugo Sanchez had found and bought the car from A Baja Junk Yard. Mr Sanchez took the car to his friends Ralph Garcia Jr restoration shop In hopes of using it to recreate Another Movie Muscle Car Icon. Elanor The cursed car Nicholas Cage's " Gone In 60 Second". Once the top layers Of Paint Were stripped away To unviel the original highland green paint job. After that Ralph's Auto Shop started Doing The Work Began To Investigate. That Lead The Men To Marti Auto Works.
Marti Auto Works Has A Data Base For All Ford built from 1967-2012. Marti's Reports Tell You The Days it was Ordered, Original Color and Which Opitions The Car had when it was sold. The 68 Bullitt Mustang's vehicle identification numbers (VIN) Numbers Matched The Cars That Were Ordered By Warner Brothers. Now That The car has been identified Hugo and His Friend Ralph Garcia, Jr have started to restore the car to it's full Bullitt Glory.
There is no word on what they plan to do with The Car when it is fully restored but many offers are already pouring in. This Mustang given its famous past is expected to reach 6 or possibly 7 if they choose to auction it off.
