The blower motor is the fan that pushes heated or cooled air through dashboard vents in your vehicle based on the climate control system settings and the fan speed selected. The blower motor is usually under the dashboard on the passenger side.

Symptoms of a Failing Blower Motor

    • One of the first signs of a potential problem with the vehicle's blower motor is low airflow from the vents.
    • Another sign of a bad or failing heater blower motor is if it only functioning at certain speeds.
    • No air flowing from the heat/cooling vents.

As the impeller blades are plastic, it's also pretty easy for them to snap off. You might hear this as a noise coming from directly behind the vent, perhaps a light slapping, or a sudden pop before you notice a problem with airflow. Whirring noises might also result from a bad bearing in the motor.
