More About Wheel Bearing Hub

Also called a wheel hub bearing, hub assembly, wheel hub unit or hub and bearing assembly, the wheel hub assembly is a crucial part of your steering system for the safe steering and handling of your vehicle.

The hub assembly includes the hub that bolts to the wheel as well as the bearing that allows it to spin. They may also include ABS or speed sensors that send information to the ECU (electronic control unit.) Over time, the hub bearing will wear out. This can cause a roaring or clicking sound at the steering wheel, or vibrations. You may also need to replace a hub assembly if the ABS sensor is damaged, which will cause your ABS warning light to come on.

Responsible for attaching the wheel to the car, a wheel hub assembly is a pre-assembled unit that features precision bearings, seals and sensors. Also called a wheel hub bearing, hub assembly, wheel hub unit or hub and bearing assembly.

Your wheel bearings and hubs are important parts of your vehicle's steering, suspension, and braking systems. Most modern vehicles use a one-piece hub assembly that incorporates the hub, wheel bearing, ABS wheel speed sensor, and mounting flange.

How do I know if I have a bad wheel hub assembly? Growling, humming, squeaking, chirping or squealing from the tires when driving under 45mph. Steering wheel may shake as you drive. ABS light will come on if the sensor isn’t reading properly or if the signal is lost.
